The Laurentian Library

in 1524, the same year that work began on the Medici Chapel, Michelangelo was commissioned to build the Laurentian Library, in the cloister of San Lorenzo. Together with the Medici Chapel, the library is considered as a turning-point in architectural history. The staircase is considered as being extremely fine and elegant.
